Rolag Puni – SW Merino 21 mic/ Angora – spinning fiber felting fibers

These are hand made Rolag/Punis, Emerald green, light blue, gold, silver with gold threads, 28.35 gr./ 1 oz.

These rolags are made with 21u super wash merino/ silk/ silver metallic thread.  Super wash means that the wool will not felt by washing it, which makes it so your stitches are preserved once it’s spun into yarn, and it’s easier to care for. Super wash wool can still be needle felted.

Punis and Rolag are a very fun way to spin fiber. They are easier to hold onto than big art batts and all of the drafting work has already been done for you. You spin these by drafting from the end.  I usually spin my fiber straight from the locks, so whenever I get a chance to spin some of my Rolag it’s a real treat.

Joining them together is as simple as touching it to the fiber as it spins, and this way of spinning creates predictable, gorgeous variations in your hand spun yarn. If you prefer to felt, feel free! It will work for that too.
